Week 3

Hi Everyone!

Weight 62kg/136.6lbs
Best 2.4km run 16mins 05secs

MONDAY-SATURDAY  2.4km run/10 girl push ups, 20 lunges, 10 burpees, 10 squat thrusts, 20 sit ups, 10X Running up & down steps/40mins power walk (with dog)
SUNDAY  Hiking

My running is getting better ~ slowly but surely. If I speed up then I can't complete 2.4km without stopping & I feel like I'm dying!! My breathing is intense & my lungs reach full capacity within minutes.

I need to lose the weight & work harder next week. No pain no gain, right?
I watch The Biggest Loser every week. The contestants seem to go through a lot more pain than I do when I run. I think I should push myself to that limit.
I would love Jillian as a trainer, so I did the next best thing. I bought Jillian Michaels 30 day shred dvd. It's really good! My legs feel like jelly right now!

I've also been brushing up on my Punjabi. I'm really not that bad at all. I should be fluent very soon!

Week 2

Hi Everyone!

Weight 62kg/136.6lbs
Best 2.4km run 16mins 35secs

MONDAY-SATURDAY  2.4km run/10 girl push ups, 20 lunges, 20 side lunges, 10 squat thrusts, 20 sit ups, 20 jumping jacks/40mins power walk (with dog)
SUNDAY  Hiking

So the liar in the murder mystery was...........Tom! He didn't mention the light going out when Dick tripped over the extension cord because he left the car to murder!

My best run is better than week 1, but most of the runs were a lot slower. I have to step up my dieting because I know I can lose weight MUCH faster than this! I haven't been keeping track of my eating. I've been eating & being lazier than I usually am.

Tomorrow I have a job interview, so hopefully I get that & get into the swing of things.

Texas Ghost rider advised me to set a goal - thank you! So my goal is to reach 58kg/127.8lbs by April 24th. I have about 1 month to lose 5kg/ 11lbs!!! I can do it:)

Best 2.4km Run  17 mins 02 secs

SUNDAY  Hiking

I've started doing mysteries on the internet. It's really fun! Here's an example from http://www.mysterynet.com:

The time of death was firmly established. At 10:06 p.m. all three suspects said they heard a gunshot echo through the house. The house was shared by the Harrison quads, a set of fraternal quadruplets whose relationship was anything but brotherly. Technically speaking, the Harrisons were now triplets, since Harry, the oldest by a minute, was lying in his second story bedroom, nursing a bullet in his lifeless chest.

Harry, it seemed, had been a ladies' man. He had even bragged about seducing the girlfriend of one of his brothers. Unfortunately, the police didn't know which one. They arrived quickly, separating the three remaining men and interviewing each one separately.
"I was working on my car," Tom Harrison insisted. "I plugged an extension cord into an outlet behind the house. Then I took a work light around to the side driveway, in front of the garage. I was working on the engine when I heard the gunshot. It took me a second to realize it was coming from the house. Then I ran inside to check."
The second suspect entered the room with a noticeable limp. "I had just come home," explained brother Dick. "I parked in the alley behind the house. I was walking up to the back door when I tripped hard over some cord. I fell down, then just sat there, rubbing my ankle. Maybe two minutes later came the gunshot. That got me moving."
The third suspect claimed that he had just come down to the kitchen. "I was starting to scoop out a bowl of ice cream," said Ignatius, the youngest Harrison. "Then I heard a noise out back. I looked out, but it was dark. I went back to my ice cream. A couple minutes later I heard the shot."
The detectives circled the house. In the kitchen, they found a melted bowl of ice cream on the counter by the refrigerator. In the backyard, they saw an orange extension cord with a bent prong that had been ripped from an outdoor socket. Following the extension cord around, they found Tom's car in front of the garage, the work light suspended over the open hood.
"At least they're not identical quads," the chief detective observed. "I hate working on clichéd mysteries."
"Well, cliche or not," his assistant mumbled, "it's pretty clear who's lying."
So who's lying? Is it Tom, Dick or Ignatius? What gave it away?
I'll tell you the answer next week!

First Day

Hi Everyone!

A large part of my preparation to become a police officer is going to center around fitness. I'm strong in endurance because I regularly hike, but I can't run. I'm awful. I've never been able to run. At school I was always last. I'm not fast at all................ Well, I plan to change by running 2.4km everyday, a shuttle run and some calisthenics. If I can do it, you can too.

Weight 63 kg/138.9 lbs
Best 2.4 km run 17mins 05secs

I read on the internet that an average person can run 2.4km in around 12mins, a fit person in 7/8 mins and an unfit person in over 15 mins. Hmmmmm, I'm well over 15mins! I need some serious work!

While I was running my legs felt like dead weights and my chest felt like it was on fire. I really wanted to give up, but I just focused on the run.

My wonderful husband comes running with me for support. He used to be a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force police, so he knows his stuff! He pushed me to do 10 girl push ups, 20 side lunges, 10 flights of stairs, 10 lunges and 10 jumps. I could only do 4 laps of the shuttle run.
That's all I could do today.

Welcome!

Hi Everyone!

My name is Jasmine. I'm just a girl with a dream: to become a police officer in Canada!

Except.......

1) I'm
OUT OF SHAPE

There's no way I can pass the PREP. I'm about 20 lbs overweight, I need to lose weight by correcting my sweet tooth!

2) I'm a
NEWCOMER

I moved to Canada from England, so I don't know anyone outside my immediate family. I have little history in this country ~ I don't have many references from here.

3) I don't speak a
SECOND LANGUAGE

This is terrible! I can speak some Punjabi, Spanish and Korean, but I need to take the time to study to reach fluency.

BUT

I'm going to work really hard to make my dream a reality.

This blog is going to be about what it takes to become a police officer.
I hope you follow me on my journey.
